Walpole, MA, USA, August 17, 2026 — Christiansburg, Virginia-based Midway Production Services has successfully deployed the RF Venue RF PA Extension Kit, along with RF Venue Diversity Fin antennas and DISTRO series distribution systems, to overcome complex audio distribution challenges during a pair of high-profile fundraising events at Radford University in Radford, Virginia. The deployment allowed the production team to eliminate long speaker cable runs through public walkways while delivering reliable, uninterrupted audio coverage.
“Setup was incredibly simple, and the system worked exactly as advertised,” said Brian James, Senior Project Manager for Midway Production Services. “We experienced zero signal issues, and the audio was clean from start to finish. But what really stood out wasn’t just the performance; it was everything we didn’t have to do. There were no cables to tape down, no cable ramps to install, and no trip hazards for guests.”
The weekend featured two VIP fundraising events held in separate venues across the Radford University campus: an informal luncheon followed by a formal black-tie gala. Serving approximately 7,800 students, Radford University is nationally recognized for its undergraduate and graduate academic programs, innovative use of technology and commitment to sustainability. Both events required professional wireless microphone systems and distributed loudspeaker coverage in facilities where conventional cable routing would have created significant logistical, aesthetic and safety challenges.
For both events, Midway Production Services relied on RF Venue Diversity Fin antennas andDISTRO series antenna distribution systems to support its wireless microphone setup. For the luncheon, the company used the RF PA Extension Kit to feed a delay system consisting of two Turbosound iP300 loudspeakers. Later that evening, the system was deployed again to connect the event’s main loudspeaker array of Electro-Voice EV Evolve 50 systems. In both applications, the wireless audio link performed flawlessly, eliminating the need to run cables across guest pathways while maintaining clean, dependable audio throughout each event.
The cable-free deployment proved especially valuable given the event’s attendees, which included alumni, donors, university leadership and guests, many of whom required walkers, wheelchairs or other mobility assistance devices. By eliminating cables and cable covers from public walkways, the production team created a safer and more accessible environment while also presenting a cleaner, more professional appearance.
“Clients rarely comment on the technology itself; they simply expect everything to work,” James continued. “This time was different: the client specifically noticed there weren’t any cables on the floor, and one guest with mobility challenges thanked us because navigating the venue was so much easier. Even the catering staff appreciated not having to work around cable runs. That’s when you know a product is solving real-world problems.”

The venue’s architectural design left virtually no practical options for conventional cable routing. Floor runs would have crossed heavily traveled public areas, while overhead cable drops were not feasible because of the ceiling construction. According to James, the RF PA Extension Kit provided the only practical solution without compromising system performance or event presentation.
“The customer actually asked me when we were planning to connect all the speakers,” James recalled. “I was able to tell them they were already connected and ready to go. They couldn’t believe there weren’t any cables.”
Beyond simplifying deployment, the RF PA Extension Kit also reduced setup time by allowing delay loudspeakers to be positioned quickly without lengthy cable runs or additional infrastructure. James noted that configuring the RF PA receiver’s built-in delay timing was straightforward, enabling the team to complete system optimization in minutes.
Following the success of the Radford University events, Midway Production Services has continued incorporating the RF PA Extension Kit into its production workflow. “Since those events, we’ve used the RF PA Extension Kit on more than twenty additional productions with outstanding results,” James said. “It’s become one of those products that simply makes our jobs easier while delivering a better experience for our clients and their guests.”
For an institution known for combining academic excellence with a welcoming campus environment, maintaining an elegant, safe and accessible experience for guests was an important part of the events’ success. By eliminating visible cable runs while maintaining flawless audio performance, the RF Venue solution allowed Midway Production Services to meet both the technical and guest-experience expectations of the university.
“The best technology is often the technology people never notice because it quietly solves problems behind the scenes,” said Chris Regan, Chief Innovation Officer at RF Venue. “The RF PA Extension Kit was designed to eliminate the limitations of traditional cable runs while maintaining professional-quality audio performance. It’s rewarding to see production companies like Midway using it to improve not only their workflow, but also accessibility, safety and the overall guest experience.”
